On Aug. 20, local delegates traveled to Lockbourne, Ohio, to participate at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new memorial wall in Lockbourne that will honor fallen servicemembers from generations of American warriors who spent time in Lockbourne and Rickenbacker Air Force Base (AFB) dating back to World War II. This includes the Tuskegee Airmen, Women Air Service Pilots (WASPs), and Lima Company, which deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The wall has been a concept building momentum since March of 2023.

“Rob Stroup, author of Crossroads of Liberty, approached the village about installing a monument in Lockbourne to commemorate the history of Lockbourne/Rickenbacker Air Force Base according to Lockbourne Mayor Christie Ward in our previous article.

“It was an honor to break ground and pay tribute to so many American military heroes who have come through Lockbourne since World War II. Many of these heroes made the ultimate sacrifice, and it is fitting they receive such a solemn memorial,” Rep. Carey said.
