Kid entrepreneurs at KidFest
by Theresa Garee
This year a Kid’s Market will be a part of KidsFest on Sept. 6 at Groveport Park.
Cassandra Lewis of Groveport and her daughter, Kirsten, have attended other events in the past that allowed for young entrepreneurs but they wanted to attend one close to home. Lewis approached the city of Groveport about setting up a farmer’s market for kids.
Lewis said Cristy Duckworth, Program Coordinator with the Community Affairs Department, suggested it be an event added to KidsFest.
“Its a fantastic addition to an already fun-filled morning,” Duckworth said.
“I’ve gotten some local businesses to help support the kiddos, too,” Lewis said.
Several local businesses are providing gift cards and t-shirts for the young business owners.
There will be several different youth-owned businesses selling items from succulents to masala chai tea. The Kid’s Market will be next to the construction zone play space.
The KidsFest will be at 7370 Groveport Rd.
